UOW's Housing Assessment Scheme (HAS)
UOW Accommodation Services has commenced the Housing Assessment Scheme (HAS), which aims to help students choose accommodation that meets UOW's Housing Assessment Scheme criteria.
The scheme is voluntary and a free service, however properties that have five or more bedrooms may be required to have a HAS assessment prior to having their listings approved (for more information contact the Housing Officer). Properties that have met the criteria at the time of assessment will have a logo which will show on the individual listing as having met the criteria as set by UOW at the time of inspection.
The role of this service is to provide students seeking private rental properties a clear assurance that properties have met minimum standards in terms of both the standard of facilities, and the contractual or lease arrangements at the time the assessment has taken place.
Properties that have been assessed and have met the criteria as set by the University of Wollongong will appear at the top of the search list results when students search UOW Study Stays for properties, maximising exposure and increasing chances of being filled quickly.
Who can have an assessment?
If you are a private provider, landlord or student with a property or spare room(s) and live within the Illawarra, you can be part of our scheme! This scheme is not available to Real Estate agents.
How can I book a HAS Assessment?
If you are interested in having your property assessed by UOW, please email the HAS Team or contact Accommodation Services on 02 4221 5467 to arrange a time for an inspection.
